Learning to ride a bike in Leuven
De Fietsschool Leuven teaches cycling to children, young people, students and adults who cannot cycle (properly). Have you ever cycled, but don't dare very well anymore? Then you are also welcome at De Fietsschool - Cycling School Leuven.

Learning to ride a bike for adults
De Fietsschool Leuven gives cycling lessons to adults who cannot or cannot yet cycle properly. In 15 lessons, you learn step by step how to ride a bike, the traffic rules and cycling on the street.
Price
€20 for 15 lessons. UiTpass with chance rate: €4 for 15 lessons. From September 2026 there will be new prices.
When
You will have lessons twice a week. Lessons are on:
- Monday and Friday: 13.00 - 15.00
- Tuesday and Thursday: 13.00 - 15.00
- Thursday: 18.00 - 20.00 and Saturday: 10.00 - 12.00

Open cycling days
Every Wednesday afternoon, we transform Blauwputplein into an exercise area where everyone from 0 to 99 years old, with or without disabilities, is welcome with any possible cycling question.
During an open bike day, you can practice freely under supervision, using your own bike or one of our bikes. You come and go as you please. This is not a structured class, but a safe place to learn, try and ask questions.
Every week we also offer a workshop on the following topics: bike maintenance, road code, bike ownership and bike systems, and cycling on the streets.
Cycling lesson for OKAN youths
Are you between 12 and 18 years old and can't or not yet cycle well? In 8 lessons you will learn the most important Cycling Skills such as starting and stopping smoothly, making turns, looking. Afterwards, you will also learn to cycle on the street.

Cycling lesson for KU Leuven students
De Fietsschool Leuven gives cycling lessons to international students who cannot or cannot yet cycle properly. In 10 lessons, you will learn step by step how to ride a bike, the traffic rules and cycling on the street. The lessons are taught in English.

Cycling lessons for children (6-12 years)
Fietsschool xs also teaches children between 6 and 12 years how to cycle. All children who cannot yet cycle or cannot cycle well are welcome. In four lessons, they learn the most important basic skills to be able to cycle safely on the streets later.

Practical
- You can use a bike and helmet from De Fietsschool.
- You are insured during cycling lessons.
- Put on cycling clothes: narrow-legged trousers, sturdy closed shoes and, if necessary, a mackintosh.

Organisation
Cycling School Leuven is an organisation of the City of Leuven. For 12 years, the Mobiel 21 team has been organising cycling lessons in Leuven. We do this thanks in part to the support of Velo vzw. Cycling lessons for students are made possible by KU Leuven.
