We help you to cycle independently and confidently again. At your own pace, in a quiet environment and with professional coaching.

Learning to ride a bike at 65+

De Fietsschool gives cycling lessons to people over 65. All elderly and senior citizens are welcome, even if they:

  • never learned to ride a bike when they were younger
  • have not been on a bicycle for a long time
  • feel insecure in traffic
  • just want to practice in a safe environment

You do not need any cycling experience to participate. De Fietsschool adapts to your skills, experience level and pace.

What do you learn during our lessons?

In 5 cycling lessons, we build up your cycling skills step by step. We focus on keeping balance, braking, getting on and off the bike, and safe manoeuvres.

Our instructors are experienced in coaching participants of all ages. We often work with adapted bikes. We do so in a safe, protected training environment. We take your physical capabilities into account and make sure you have a pleasant, positive experience.

Do you still need support after the lessons? Some municipalities or organisations offer tailored mobility advice or connect new cyclists with volunteers for personal support. Together, we look at what is possible in your area or neighbourhood.
