Let us give cycling lessons
Does your city, municipality or organisation want to run cycling classes but are short of hands? Then De Fietsschool is your partner. Our experienced and enthusiastic instructors are ready to help you. In 15 lessons, they train people with no cycling experience to become independent cyclists.
How does it work?
Local cycling schools that want to roll out a cycling offer, but do not have enough instructors to teach all the classes, can turn to De Fietsschool - Cycling School for helping hands. We work with instructors who have been helping adults in the saddle for years. They do so with enthusiasm and commitment. They therefore look forward to rolling up their sleeves in your city, municipality or organisation.
Also for companies
De Fietsschool also works with companies to teach their employees how to cycle. That way, they get to work or to customers in a sustainable way. Together, we like to see how we can get employees with no cycling experience onto the bike. And even employees who can already cycle can often use some extra support. With our workshops Defensive Cycling and Road Code for Cyclists, we reduce workplace accidents and put everyone on the road safely.
Learning to ride a bike step by step
Each series of De Fietsschool lessons consists of 15 lessons. Novice cyclists always go through the following sections:
The lesson series starts with an introduction. The participants get to know each other.
In the first lessons, we focus on the technique of cycling. We do this in a safe area, not in traffic itself. Keeping balance, pedalling, braking, turning, stopping. Everything is covered.
Then we zoom in on the traffic rules in Flanders and the traffic signs participants encounter on the road.
In the last lessons we practice in traffic. This way, participants learn how to cycle smoothly and safely in real-life situations.
Finally, we give practical tips and tricks, including on buying and maintaining a bike.
To provide tailor-made guidance to participants, a maximum of 20 people take part in a series of lessons.
